Program Description:
The Drop-In Center provides people with HIV/AIDS a drug free environment for socialization. At the Center, clients have the opportunity to socialize with staff, volunteers, and other clients. Computers with Internet and e-mail access provide socially-isolated clients a "window on the world." A wide range of social activities is offered - potluck lunches, holiday parties, movie afternoons, crafts, and outings in local parks and recreation areas.
The Center provides clients with access to a washer and dryer, a shower, and a food bank and/or food vouchers to supplement the client's nutritional needs.
Drop-In Center Services are important because:
We firmly believe that HIV prevention efforts must target those who are HIV positive, as well as those who are negative. And while prevention for positives is a well-accepted approach in urban areas, it remains an innovative concept in most rural counties.
Experience/Capacity and Qualifications of Key Staff:
The Drop-In Center has provided services to persons with HIV/AIDS since 1984. We have a qualified staff with several years of experience in this field.
