The Community Integration Program was created to help young adults with developmental disabilities to transition from family homes and school to an independent life in the community. This program is designed to teach life skill such as:
- Meal planning
- Shopping
- Cooking
- Cleaning
- Dealing with public agencies
- Living and interacting with roommates
- Organizing daily tasks
- Using public transportation
- Using recreational opportunities
All of this takes place in a home-like setting in order to give the students a true-to-life experience. The program takes place Monday through Friday; 2:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Students can choose to attend the program part-time or full-time.
To qualify for Community Integration Program services you must:
- Be a consumer of services through the Redwood Coast Regional Center
- Be referred, at your request, through your Case Manager at Redwood Coast Regional Center
- Live in the greater Ukiah or Willits area
- Be between the ages of 18 and 26 years
CIP Program Plan:
Students in the program will spend one or more afternoons and evenings per week at a location in the community, with staff, learning the skills necessary to live independently.
Living independently in the community requires many skills including: meal planning, shopping, cooking, cleaning, dealing with public agencies, living and sharing with roommates, organizing daily tasks, and using public transportation and recreation.
When the students leave school, they will be able to make a smoother transition into community living. They should be able to accomplish this with fewer supports and with more knowledge and confidence than they would have before attending the Community Integration Program.
Donations:
Your donations are greatly appreciated. Checks can be made out to CCMC. If you wish, you can make a notation to indicate which program you would like your gift to go towards.
